The Hong Kong market slid in early trade on Tuesday, following a mixed performance from US markets overnight, with investors jittery ahead over central bank meetings in Japan, the United States and Britain.
The Hang Seng Index was down 106.92 points, or 0.6 percent, at 17,131.42 in the opening minutes.
Earlier, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.1 percent to 40,539.93, the S&P 500 gained 0.1 percent to 5,463.54, and the Nasdaq Composite also rose 0.1 percent to end at 17,370.20.
