TENCENT Substantial Shareholder Naspers' Annual Core Profit Per Shr More than Double

  Naspers, the substantial shareholder of TENCENT (00700.HK) -0.400 (-0.105%) Short selling $355.01M; Ratio 13.042% , announced its results for the full year ended at the end of March. Net profit fell 34% year-on-year to US$2.855 billion. EPS was US$15.32. Profit from continuing operations per share was US$15.95. Full-year revenue rose 8% year-on-year to US$6.431 billion.

  The company's annual core profit per share was US$11.48, more than double of last year's US$5.46. The company said that its integrated e-commerce business recorded profits in the second half of the past year, which was faster than originally expected to be profitable in the first half of the current fiscal year.

  Naspers holds about 25% of TENCENT's shares, and the company is reducing its holdings in TENCENT to promote share buybacks. Its investments also include Brazilian food delivery service iFood, German counterpart Delivery Hero and Indian counterpart Swiggy, as well as educational software companies SkillSoft and Stake Overflow, and Indian payment company PayU.
