It has been reported that Vanke Property Management has aroused controversy by requesting property owners to pay property charges half a year in advance, or else they will be charged a daily default fee of 0.05%.
Yang Guanghui, Chief Customer Officer at Vanke Property Management, said in a press release today that the dispute was caused by the system's sending of a reminder message to customers who were required to pay annually in advance, but some of them had actually already paid half a year's fees. On behalf of the company, he apologised for the mix-up and immediately suspended the calculation of the default fee for the months in which the service had not yet been provided.

Yang said that to cater for the different payment habits of property charges in different cities, the contracts signed between the company and the owners in different districts include monthly, quarterly and yearly payment options for property charges, as well as payment of default fees for failure to pay the property charges on time. While this is a simple algorithm based on the terms and conditions of the contract for the computer system, this has overlooked the fact that some owners who have agreed to pay annually in their contracts are actually paying monthly or quarterly.
The Company will endeavour to reach a consensus with the owners on this situation as soon as possible, and will continue to improve the billing system and enhance the quality of service in the future, Yang stated.
