Report: Meituan Takeaway Tests 'Money-saving Version', Showcasing Price Advantage by Focusing on Individual Meals

　　36Krypton reported, citing sources, that Meituan Takeaway has established “high price-performance ratio” as an important direction in internal discussions, and has launched a “Money-saving Version”, or “Version B” in its app, which is now in grey-box testing in several Chinese cities.

　　It is learnt that users can access a parallel version of Meituan Takeaway by clicking the “Money-saving Version” button on the app's homepage. Within the new version, items are presented in a list of meals, focusing on highlighting the price of individual meal packages, as well as the price comparison advantages with ordinary takeaways.

　　Previously, Meituan Takeaway has sorted and recommended options based on merchant names. However, new initiatives at Meituan Takeaway including “Shenqiangshou”, “Pinhaofan” and “Money-saving Version” presented items in terms of meals instead of merchants. Sources said Money-saving Version is, to some extent, borrowing ideas from how Pinduoduo (PDD.US) presented its goods.
