NONGFU SPRING (09633.HK) -0.950 (-2.836%) Short selling $274.54M; Ratio 59.777% revealed that it had already issued a lawyer's letter to the Consumer Council of Hong Kong (CC), claiming that there were errors in the report of “Taste, Mineral and Safety Test on 30 Bottled Water Products” released by the CC yesterday (15 July), and demanding clarification and apology from the CC.
In response to media enquiries, the CC confirmed that it had received a lawyer's letter from NONGFU SPRING, and was currently examining follow-up actions.

The CC reiterated that it had already stated across monthly articles, press releases, other subpoena documents, and speeches at press conferences that all the 30 tested samples were not found to have harmful substances exceeding the World Health Organization (WHO) criteria and that all the samples could be safely consumed.
It also emphasised that the focus of the article was on the price-performance of each sample and the environmental impacts of bottled water, rather than on product safety issues.
